Pricing Guide for Restoring Sterling Silver
The word "Sterling" is the best known and most respected marking in use today. Pure silver alone is too soft for everyday use. Copper is the metal commonly used to give "Sterling" its added stiffness and wearing qualities. Sterling is often referred to as solid silver. It is composed of 925 parts pure silver in every 1000 - this proportion never varies - it is fixed by law. To identify sterling items, you will generally find the word "STERLING" stamped on the piece.Even though Sterling Silver does not require plating, the Senti-Metal Company can repair and restore most sterling silver pieces that have suffered damage such as breaks, dents or require the replacement of missing parts. (Sorry, no sale prices for these services.)
To calculate the price for sterling silver restoration, identify each repair below and add the charges together. Then add the polishing price (1/2 of the silverplating price) to arrive at the total. This pricing guide covers the following Sterling Silver items: Candlesticks, Candelabras, Compotes and Vases.
